Home style foodAs with previous reviewers, we ended up here when 2 other options were full or closed. The decor is cluttered and not much space between tables. It took a while for our order to be taken and much of the drinks menu was handwritten but everything was good from then on. Staff were helpful and pleasant, we were given complimentary local cherry or almond liqueur before and after our meal, food was very tasty; the steak was tender and the vegetarian paella had good flavour. Large variety of wine at good prices.
Boney fish stew, tourist trapIf I weren't so tired as I arrived today I would have realised that I shouldn't have gone inside. A too persuasive woman pulled me off the street as I looked at the menu with what turned out to be false descriptions of the food. She said it would be grilled Mixed fish and instead it was a stew of the last offcuts of fish. Some of which were less than fresh. I left about half of it which was extremely boney, with big and lots of little bones.
Oddly the waiter offered each male and female couple a choice of port or sherry both before and after the meal, on the house, but I had to ask him for one and was not offered another.
As a solo female diner that felt very rude.
It has lots of foreign flags and solely foreign tourists dining, and not one Portuguese diner. They were all eating elsewhere down the street.
Very slow service as well.
Would definately not recommend.
