Just near our hotel ..open late and simple food. I had grilled bream and it was lovely. The staff are kind and helpful here.

We happened upon Restaurante Fumeiro by accident, and what a happy accident it was! We had originally set out to find a well-reviewed tapas restaurant not too far from our hotel. After hiking up a rather challenging set of streets, as can happen rather easily in Lisbon, we found that the tapas restaurant was closed as the owners were on holiday. On the way back down, we encountered Restaurante Fumeiro. The service was excellent, although one server didn’t speak fluent English. But how can we complain? This is not an English-speaking country. Nevertheless, she worked with us, and we got everything ordered just fine. I am glad that we did! I had salmon, and my husband had sole. We wound up trying each other’s meals, because we both were so impressed with how they tasted. The fish and the included sides were excellent! Deliciously seasoned and perfectly cooked! We are from New York, and we are spoiled by excellent food options where we live. Still, we were very impressed by the quality of the food here. The next time we are in Lisbon, we will be back to this restaurant! Don’t let it seeming like a little hole in the wall slow you down. The food is terrific, and it’s a good value, too!

Ate there last night with my partner, we shared an appetiser of spicy sausage and blood pudding, very tasty. Mains were peppered steak and sizzling pork. Both dishes were delicious. Friendly staff, good prices and pleasant ambience. Would eat here again without hesitation, highly recommend.
