We stopped at Letaria Academica's outdoor kiosk on Largo do Carmo for an O.J. and a beer on our final day in Lisbon. The service was very prompt, and our server kept asking us if we wanted anything to eat. We finally succumbed to his requests, and he suggested a plate of Jamon Iberico and cheese, which sounded like a perfect pairing for both beer and O.J. It was! He brought us a large plate with Jamon Iberico, plus 3 different cheeses to go with the jamon. It was delicious and we both enjoyed it!

Food average, we had sausage selection and cheeses. Service poor slow. Toilet dirty. Location lovely. Bumping up to an average of an average place to go. Carmo looked better but my review was terrible. Found a lot of nice place surrounds can mean less than ideal service

Der Largo do Carmo wird in den Reiseführern gern als ruhiger Ort dargestellt - das ist er nicht ! Es ist hier, wie fast überall in Lissabon, laut und meistens trubelig, aber trotzdem ein schöner Fleck. Von hier kann man gut die "Bergstation" des Elevador Santa Justa erreichen. Die Letaria academica ist ein sympathischer Laden mit einem guten Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis, schmackhaften typischen Gerichten und recht preiswerten Getränken - dazu ein freundlicher Service, sehr angenehmer Ort.
