My wife and I went here twice for lunch and on both occasions we had very nice meals with friendly and competent service. It appears to be a family business serving traditional Portuguese dishes and the portions are generous. Another reviewer has questioned why it is quite far down the ratings list and I very much agree. It was much better than the majority of other local restaurants that we went to and I would recommend it highly. In addition to good food and service at O Cantil it is reasonably priced. Certainly well worth giving it a try.

Our family (2 adults, toddler and baby) showed up dirty and hungry from the beach and were welcomed so warmly and served with excellent attention by an older gentleman who I think may own the restaurant? Our food was fresh and tasty. I had the salt cod (yum!) and my hubby had grilled prawns. We would have come back if we weren't staying all inclusive nearby. It's baffling to me to see negative reviews and I don't know why this place isn't showing up higher on recommended places to eat. Just goes to show you can't completely trust review sites. Please do stop into this place.

Food was very enjoyable. I had the sardines the portion was plentiful. We also had the monkfish and mixed meat screwers which both very good the staff where very polite.
