Best BBQ seafood - must try creme brûléeWe fell in love with all the BBQ seafood we had whilst in Porto but O'Lusitano was by far the best place we went to. On a bustling street filled with BBQ seafood restaurants, O'Lusinato stood out as being the only one bursting full by 7:30pm which was a surprise as Portuguese tend to eat much later.
The staff were all so friendly and incredibly helpful, explaining all the different fish and seafood of the day and what would be good for us depending on our tastes/stomach sizes. Two of us opted for sardines, squid and sea bream. I wish we could have also tried more but the portions are super generous!
The sardines were salty and had this fatty quality that was delicious and something we hadn't tasted with sardines at other places. The squid was fantastic, so fresh, and after BBQ-ed was covered in a garlic olive oil which really brought its flavours to life. The sea bream was so delicate and simple in flavour that worked fantastically with the potatoes in an addictively moreish garlic olive oil, and a simple bit satisfying salad with grilled green peppers (that they place with the coals in the BBQ!)
We were sat outside and saw our food being cooked and got major food envy at everyone else's choices! Our whole meal was done by BBQ, from salad, to fish, to even dessert! We were amazed to watch our creme brûlée on a dish being placed on the BBQ then a hot flat laden-like tool that had been warming up on the BBQ the entire time was pushed on top of the brûlée, creating the crisp caramel-y top layer - it was great to watch and fantastic to taste! A must try! The chocolate mousse also very satisfying.
The house white worked perfectly with the meal and we even got a cheeky shot of Portuguese grappa from a frozen container which ended our meal nicely.
The food, drinks, and chatter with staff made this meal a fantastic one - you must come here if ever in Porto!
