Authentic, but not that goodWe went there with great expectations after reading the reviews and not getting in the first night. The fact that it doesn't look much from the outside, and that they grill the fish in front of the restaurant on the street, was charming first, but sitting with an open door to the street, became a bit uncomfortable and cold.
We were told that we can't have shrimps as a main dish,so we had cod instead, and then watched at least 5 plates filled with shrimps being served to other guests in that 30mins while our cod was (over)grilled.
Finally arrived a massive blob of fish, though half of it was like charcoal.
I wouldn't call the food cheap or tasty, the staff was nice enough, but like the food could be better, and other places a bit further down on this list, definitely are.
Family run restaurant with great fishThe number 500 bus from the city takes you to within yards of this restaurant before it turns and heads back to Porto.
It's family run, and specializes in fish cooked on the BBQ which is excellent. The fish is served with new potatoes cooked in their skin and a simple salad. The O Lusitano house wine is delicious at E7 a bottle. We had a shared starter of seven fresh grilled sardines and a large sole which again we shared.
It's worth booking ahead particularly on a Sunday. They do understand some English. Good fun and go for the food not the setting. We look forward to returning.
