Abbiamo trovato questo ristorante, intimo e caldo, per caso, ed è stata un'ottima esperienza. Abbiamo preso dei gamberi come antipasto, molto buoni, ed una cataplana di pesce misto, piatto davvero buono, pieno di profumi. Bella scelta di vini del territorio, buon servizio, cordialità e simpatia da parte del proprietario. Torneremo sicuramente per assaggiare altri piatti della tradizione portoghese.

We were in Lisbon prior to joining a small coach tour of Portugal, and went out looking for dinner. We'd thought to try a place near our hotel, but on the way we discovered Fumeiro - well, not so much discovered as met one of the waiters, who suggested we try the restaurant. It turned out to be an excellent choice - a delightful place with wonderful atmosphere, and excellent food. We ordered the rabbit casserole (unfortunately, no hare that evening!) and roast suckling pig, both dishes served with a HUGE platter of mixed, fresh vegetables cooked in garlic and a little olive oil. While we were waiting for our meals, the owner brought us a couple of tasting glasses of two different port varieties - an interesting way to start a meal! Very nice indeed. Our chosen dishes were semi-prepared in the kitchen, but finished off over a small stove brought to the table-side. The two pans were then left to simmer gently after our first serving, and we were obviously expected to finish the lot! We made a valiant effort, but had to leave a small portion of each - which also meant we had no room for dessert. Service was excellent - our MARVELLOUS waiter (who spoke very good English) - and mine host who topped up the port glasses when we weren't looking (at no charge). We were pleasantly surprised by the bill - very reasonable for two large meals, fresh crusty bread and a couple of glasses of wine each. We would definitely go back here if in Lisbon again!
